This smart home security solution is designed for both residential and commercial applications. It integrates custom IoT software for multi-protocol communication and real-time event detection. The Edge Gateway acts as a central hub, managing network connectivity via Ethernet, LTE, or WiFi (which also serves as an access point).
Its software stack uses custom Debian and Yocto Linux Porting, optimized for Rockchip hardware. Security features like Android Verified Boot (AVB), Device Mapper – Verity (DM-V) and root filesystem encryption ensure system protection. Factory image generation streamlines large-scale deployment.
A local Node.js API provides status of radio (LoRa, Zigbee, BLE, etc.) and network interfaces (LTE, Ethernet). The solution supports secure firmware updates via Mender A/B updates, secure boot mechanisms and IPTables-based firewalls to safeguard against cyber threats. Local Node.js and Python applications manage automation, LED control and real-time monitoring. All services are containerized using Docker for scalability and security in home security applications.
