Sensor DAQ - UWB

Sensor/ DAQ

UWB

Enable precise location tracking with low-power UWB solutions for secure and seamless IoT integration.

What is UWB?

Ultra Wideband (UWB) is a wireless communication technology providing high accuracy indoor location tracking and high-speed data transfer. With its centimeter-level accuracy and low-power operation, UWB is revolutionizing IoT applications such as asset tracking, navigation, and smart systems.

Applications:

Asset Tracking

Track personal or industrial assets with high precision.

Indoor Navigation

Bring precise indoor mapping to smart buildings and malls.

Smart Home Automation

Trigger actions based on proximity, such as unlocking doors or adjusting settings.

Retail

Provide seamless navigation and customer experience in large stores.

Sports and Gaming

Track real-time player movements for enhanced analytics and gameplay.

How Data Acquisition Happens

UWB sensors capture location and movement data by emitting ultra-short radio pulses. When these pulses are received by corresponding UWB anchors or tags, the system calculates distances based on the time it takes for signals to travel. This time-of-flight (ToF) data is processed in real time to determine precise positioning. The data is then transmitted to IoT platforms or applications, where it is visualized, analyzed, and used for decision-making. UWB’s low latency ensures that the data remains accurate, even in fast-changing environments.

Peripheral Integration

Our UWB technology seamlessly integrates with a wide range of IoT devices, platforms, and systems, enhancing overall functionality and performance. It can work alongside sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and IMUs to provide comprehensive motion analysis. Additionally, UWB can connect with cloud-based platforms for centralized data management and analytics, enabling real-time tracking and automation. Its compatibility with wireless communication protocols like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and RFID makes it a flexible choice for any IoT ecosystem.

Usecases

Smart Tag Locator

We developed an IoT solution using UWB for locating personal belongings. By attaching a tag equipped with UWB and BNO055 sensors (for angle and direction), users can track items with pinpoint accuracy. With the help of SPI communication between ESP32 and UWB modules, and a system with anchors at minimum of three fixed points, the location of the tag is pinpointed accurately due to triangulation. We are developing a mobile app that can guide us to the tag.
