Protocols

Captive Portals

Streamline IoT onboarding with Captive Portals, providing intuitive access and network configuration for connected devices.

What are Captive Portals?

Captive Portals are secure network access points that redirect users to a login or authentication page before granting internet access. By facilitating controlled and monitored connectivity, Captive Portals ensure secure access to critical IoT systems, protecting sensitive data while enhancing user experience. Widely used in IoT-enabled solutions, Captive Portals integrate seamlessly with devices, enabling authentication, management, and secure data transmission across networks.

Applications:

Healthcare

Ensuring secure connectivity for IoT devices like patient monitors and smart medical equipment, enabling controlled access for healthcare providers.

Hospitality

Providing a seamless guest experience with secure access to smart room controls, Wi-Fi, and other amenities.

Corrections

Enabling secure access and monitoring for IoT systems like smart handcuffs, ensuring only authorized personnel can interact with critical data.

By offering controlled access, Captive Portals support secure IoT deployments across diverse environments.

Features

User Authentication

Require users to log in or authenticate their identity before gaining access, ensuring that only authorized personnel can use the network or connected devices.

Seamless IoT Integration

Easily integrate with IoT devices to manage access and enhance data security across networks.

Customizable Login Pages

Provide a branded, user-friendly interface for authentication, creating a cohesive user experience while maintaining security.

Secure Internet Access Management

Control and monitor user access to prevent unauthorized data usage or system breaches.

Usecases

Custody Protect

The smart handcuffs, equipped with sensors to monitor inmates’ vital health parameters (heart rate, acceleration, gyroscopic data), utilize Captive Portals to ensure only authorized personnel can access health and location data. Prison personnel are redirected to a secure login page via the Captive Portal before accessing the IoT system, ensuring that sensitive information is protected from unauthorized access. This ensures the secure and efficient operation of the smart handcuffs system, helping prevent custody-related incidents while safeguarding sensitive data.

Smart Lock

Captive Portals authenticate users before granting access to the smart lock system, ensuring only authorized guests and staff can interact with the system. Using Samsung SmartThings Edge Driver and a custom SmartApp, the system integrates Captive Portals for secure connectivity, enabling automated locking and unlocking of hotel rooms. Guests are directed to a customized login page to access room controls, creating a secure and user-friendly experience. By utilizing Captive Portals, our Smart Lock System ensures secure and reliable access for guests and hotel management.

Project

Custody Protect

Wearable gadgets to monitor the Heart Rate, Accelerations, Magnetometer, Gyro of US prisoners under arrest were developed to prevent custody deaths.

Smart Access

A web app integrated with Smart Lock & Smart Access to manage hotel rooms, offers comprehensive functionalities for staff and guest control over room access and facilities.
