We’ve used a compact camera (2MP–5MP) for capturing continuous video feeds of the surroundings; TCP/IP over Wi-Fi for wireless transmission of live data to a mobile app; AI algorithms, TensorFlow Lite & Google ML Kit for facial detection & recognition.

About Smart Spectacles
Designed for field officers and surveillance personnel, the smart spectacles offer hands-free monitoring and instant feedback. Built into standard spectacle frames, the compact & wearable hardware enables discreet operation and continuous usage. Primarily, a camera embedded within the spectacle frame continuously captures video feeds of the surroundings. Then, this live feed is wirelessly transmitted to a mobile application via TCP/IP over Wi-Fi, where AI-driven facial recognition algorithms identify individuals in real-time by comparing faces with entries in a criminal records database.
Also, the mobile companion app is responsible for AI processing, utilizing TensorFlow Lite and Google ML Kit for accurate face detection and recognition. If a match is found in the criminal database, the app instantly notifies the user. Additionally, the system architecture allows integration with existing smart city infrastructure, offering a modernized surveillance tool. The solution can also be adapted in other places like transport hubs, public events and security checkpoints.
